The project enhances the identity of the site by drawing inspiration from the proportions, materials and atmospheres of historic rural buildings, reimagined through a contemporary architectural vision. The plot, bordered by a water canal and characterized by its generous dimensions, allowed the house to develop entirely on a single level, with a pitched roof and a T-shaped layout carefully designed to optimize orientation, privacy and the functional organization of spaces.
The three main volumes accommodate different living functions and establish a continuous relationship between architecture, landscape and natural light. Large glazed openings amplify the perception of space and create a seamless dialogue between interior and exterior, transforming daylight into a central design element throughout the home.
Material selection originated from a careful analysis of the Venetian territory and its traditional construction techniques. The roof structure of the main volume incorporates reclaimed timber beams recovered from historic Venetian villas and reinterpreted within a contemporary construction system, creating a balance between memory and innovation.
Special attention was also dedicated to the tactile quality of surfaces and materials. The exposed concrete walls feature textured finishes created through custom formwork inspired by the natural reed beds commonly found along the canals of the Venetian countryside. Passive design strategies and natural architectural elements — including vegetative solar screening and deep wooden overhangs — contribute to environmental comfort and solar protection.
