Architecture and Material: A New Identity for a Residence in the Venetian Suburbs

In a residential area on the outskirts of Veneto, an existing building is transformed into a contemporary home defined by brightness, material balance, and a strong dialogue with the landscape. The project, designed by MIDE architetti, begins with a volumetric simplification and an opening toward the outdoors, giving the architecture a clear and harmonious new identity.

The residence is developed over three levels. On the ground floor, the entrance leads to an inner courtyard enclosed by exposed concrete walls, punctuated by geometric openings that filter light and frame perspectives. The concrete staircase and terrazzo floor lead to the living area: a spacious open-plan space organized around a central volume. Large windows frame selective views and maintain a constant connection with the surrounding landscape, ensuring abundant natural light.

The upper floor houses the sleeping area, an intimate environment defined by soft volumes, light finishes, and custom details. Each bathroom has its own material and color identity, highlighting attention to detail and the bespoke nature of the project.

Authentic materials such as exposed concrete, terrazzo, and wooden surfaces create a minimal yet warm language, consistent with MIDE architetti’s design approach. The spaces are conceived as neutral backdrops to host designer furniture and artworks that engage in dialogue with the architecture without overpowering it, contributing to a silent and sophisticated narrative.

The result is a complete renovation that transforms an anonymous building into an elegant and functional residence, expressing a contemporary way of living based on light, materiality, and meticulous attention to detail.
