The Project envisages the renovation of a farmhouse in the Tuscan hills. The renovation will enhance the typical features of the farms in the area.
The farmstead renovation project is located on a lot in the Tuscan hills crowning the urban area of Montecatini Terme and involves an architectural agglomeration of vernacular Tuscan character.
The farm consists of a solid central body, a rustic farmhouse with a rectangular plan dating back to the early 20th century, surrounded by a series of superfetations built in different eras, which, today, diminish its architectural value and restore a volumetrically confused and degraded whole.
On the ground floor, a careful preservation of the partitions of the historical body allows, through limited and targeted interventions, to compose a series of intimate spaces for relaxation and leisure time: a reading area, a TV room, a playroom for children, a living room and a spa.
Each is placed in direct relation to an outdoor view and the kitchen and dining area, located within the new volume open to the splendid panorama. The second new volume houses the dependance, an independent guest quarters located on the opposite side of the historic body, accessible either from the latter or with an exclusive entrance through the garden.
On the upper floor, the sleeping quarters have been rationalised and the access through the new staircase has been improved, creating a bathroom, two double rooms and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. The use of materials and the formulation of the geometries of the new volumes was carefully studied to establish, on the one hand, a correct balance between the new and the old, and on the other, a profound dialogue between the rural Tuscan context and the building.
