Contemporary Renovation of an 19th-Century Rural Complex: A Luxury Cycling Resort

The project, designed by MIDE architetti, transforms a 19th-century rural complex in the Padua countryside, near the Adige River, into a luxury cycling resort. The intervention respects and enhances the historic identity of the site while introducing contemporary hospitality spaces, wellness areas, and services for cyclists.

The heart of the resort is developed within the original volumes: the two-story farmhouse, the former barchessa arcade, and the large eastern barn with a hipped roof. The articulated roofs, historic openings, and exposed wooden trusses are preserved and highlighted, restoring authenticity and the original construction character.

The former portico, defined by large arches overlooking the green landscape, now hosts the dining hall and event spaces, giving new life to one of the most representative architectural elements of the complex.

The resort entrance, characterized by clean lines and natural materials, welcomes guests with a harmonious connection between historic architecture and contemporary interventions.
Contemporary buildings for the Spa, pool area, and bike rental service, featuring a modern architectural language that respects the materiality of the 19th-century structures.

Complementing the restoration, three new volumes are introduced for the Spa, the pool area, and the bike-renting service. These contemporary structures engage in a dialogue with tradition through simple forms, carefully chosen materials, and a balanced relationship between innovation and the historic context, creating a harmonious and integrated ensemble.

The outdoor area is fully redesigned, including a large park, a new access driveway, pedestrian and vehicular paths, and guest parking. The layout of open spaces and circulation flows creates a welcoming and functional environment where history, nature, and hospitality merge into an immersive experience for slow tourism.
