Renovation and expansion of a farmhouse in harmony with the landscape

The project involves the architectural renovation of a historic farmhouse located in the heart of the Treviso hills, through careful redevelopment and volumetric expansion. The building was extended by merging existing smaller structures within the lot, aiming to simplify the perception of the built landscape and create a clearer, more orderly, and harmonious composition.

The design approach is rooted in respect for the original building: interventions on the existing façades were kept to a minimum to preserve the historical identity of the protected structure. The new volume was discreetly inserted, maintaining a strong material and formal continuity with the pre-existing structure.

The expansion develops over two above-ground levels, with an additional partially underground portion housing accessory and service areas. The new volumes are characterized by a flat roof, an architectural element that emphasizes their contemporary nature while creating a balanced visual dialogue with the historic building.

One of the most distinctive features of the project is the double-height main space, highlighted by a large panoramic corner window that frames the natural landscape of the hills, providing abundant natural light and a direct visual connection with the outdoors.

Outside, the swimming pool is conceived as a natural extension of the basement, discreetly integrated into the terrain and enhancing the visual connection with the surrounding hills, creating a perfect balance between architecture, comfort, and landscape.
